It is important to understand the employer expectations as it will assist the employee in undertaking a new role or on advancing in the organization. It is important that the employer provides the necessary resources to the employees to meet the stated expectations. Apart from getting the allotted tasks done through the employees, it is essential for the employers to identify the employees' behavior and the ways of thinking while they are in the office environment (Indeed Editorial Team, 2023)

  • Positive Attitude

For the benefit of the organizational culture, employer will require the employee to have a positive attitude. The positive attitude will help to motivate own self as well as inspire the collogues at your workplace (Indeed Editorial Team, 2023)

  •  Self Motivate

Indeed Editorial Team (2023) states that employers prefer employees who are capable of performing their tasks with minimum supervision. The self motivated employee has the innate ability to complete a given task at a high standard. By delivering high quality work through self motivation, an employee will be able to create a positive opinion on the employer's mind.

  • Punctuality

As per Indeed editorial team (2023), employers expect the employees to be punctual in their work. It will indicate the employees commitment toward the work-role, reliability of the employee & good organizational skills. Hence it will lead to the employer entrusting the employee with greater responsibility.

  • Adaptability

Haven't we under-gone changes in the recent years ? Change has become part & parcel of the day to day work life. Especially the technological world is changing in a rapid pace hence one of the top skills the employers gives preference to is adaptability when selecting candidates. Change has resulted the employees to adapt to new methods, ways of thinking & adapt to new technology (Chase, 2023)

Employee Expectations

As per the research  conducted by Gartner (2021), 82% of the employees, states that rather than seeing them as an employee, it is important for the organization to see them as a person. Lets take a look at some expectations that the employees are looking to receive from their employers.

  • On-boarding

According to Dr. Sahni (2023) a new joiner's first few days will reflect what they will be expected to encounter in the future working in the organization. Isn't it a powerful statement ? The BambooHR survey identified that 1/3 of more than 1000 Americans left their new employment before reaching 6 months of employment. Do you know why ? Poor onboarding experience. Therefore it is vital than the employer has a strategic onboarding process.

  • Growth Opportunities

Present day employees are always look out for growth opportunities. Hence employees who sense that their professional development is been obstructed are likely to move in search of new job opportunities. Eg: 59% of the young generation are of the view that opportunities to develop themselves are important when searching for jobs. To improve employee retention & improve their engaging, plans for career development & training will be important (Dr. Sahni, 2023). According to Gartner (2021) organizations that are on the path of development will assist the employees by providing objective career coaches. They will assist the employees to prioritize their personal goals.

Increased Flexibility

Apart from when and where, providing flexibility to the employees as to who they are working with, the project that they will be working on & the degree to which the employees are working are practiced in leading organizations. Will be effective if organizations can offer flexibility to employees based on the activity rather than the role (Gartner, 2021). As identified by Dr. Sahni (2023), flexible working has promoted the culture of work-life balance.

Better Employee Engagement

As discussed by Powick (2021), improving employee engagement is challenging as most of the employee will not be committed. The employers should empower the employees so that they will feel sense of belonging & valued in the workplace. By respecting the opinions & ideas of the workers, regular feedback on individual & organizational performance, communicating what is expected from the employee are some ways that employee engagement can be encouraged. The employees will contribute positively.
